ZGM AI Blog: Our Favourite AI Tools

Hello AI aficionados! Or are you an AI newbie? Either way, we’re happy you’re here. We’ve been trialing, testing and enjoying a ton of AI tools at ZGM, and we wanted to share our faves.

Whether you’re an early adopter or just dipping your toes into the realm of artificial intelligence, these tools are designed to make your life easier and your work more fun—not that we thought that was possible.

1. ChatGPT

Let’s face it—ChatGPT is the rock star of AI conversation. It’s like having the internet as your coworker who’s always ready to chat, brainstorm ideas or help you craft the perfect email. Did it help us write this blog? Yes. Did it nail it the first time? No. Or the second time? No. But that’s why we’re in here editing as needed.
  • Our favourite uses: Need a summary of a huge deck? ChatGPT has your back. Struggling with writer’s block? Just give it a nudge, and voilà! You’ll be back on track in no time. It’s also great at telling you what to cook with the ingredients in your fridge. Off topic, but really cool.
  • Why we love it: It’s adaptable. From creating email copy to answering our burning questions, ChatGPT is as versatile as an Albertan wardrobe. A lot of us think of it as our digital brainstorming buddy, ready to throw around ideas and help us refine our thoughts.

2. DALL-E

When it comes to generating eye-catching images, DALL-E stands out as the top choice. This tool takes your prompts and transforms them into visual masterpieces. Or monsters, depending on the version. It’s been improving as the months go by, and we’re loving it.
  • Our favourite uses: We don’t use it for many external uses (for a few different reasons) but it does wonders for us internally. Whether you’re in need of a whimsical illustration for a rush storyboard or a sleek graphic for your DEI presentation, DALL-E delivers some pretty stunning results.
  • Why we love it: It’s like having a jack-of-all-trades (but master of none) artist on call who can whip up starter designs tailored to our specifications. With just a few descriptive words, we can create visuals that capture your ideas pretty closely, allowing you to show what you’re thinking instead of trying to describe it with pesky words.

3. Adobe Firefly + Photoshop

If you’re a fan of Adobe’s suite of tools, you’ll want to get to know Firefly and the new AI tools within Photoshop.
  • Our favourite uses: Both of these innovative AI tools bring your creative projects to life by streamlining design processes. Whether you’re editing photos or creating graphics, Firefly and Photoshop features make it easy to achieve professional-looking results, without sacrificing your style or creative quality. It’s a bit of a “try it to believe it” tool.
  • Why we love it: It’s intuitive. Generating custom content that aligns with our vision is at our fingertips. With seamless integration into your workflow, you’ll spend less time fiddling with settings and more time unleashing your creativity.

4. Perplexity

In a world brimming with both information and misinformation, Perplexity is the trusty sidekick you never knew you needed. With Perplexity, we can gather information ultra quickly, leaving us with more time to focus on what truly matters—turning insights into action.
  • Our favourite uses: This AI-powered research assistant helps you sift through mountains of data (aka the internet) to consolidate insights that matter most. Whether you’re diving deep into market trends or simply looking for quick facts, Perplexity has got you covered.
  • Why we love it: It cites its sources. When we get information from Perplexity, we can click to see where it got the information, which is usually a dense scientific paper you wouldn’t have read otherwise. Which brings us to the second reason we love it: it makes research feel less like a chore and more like an adventure (cheesy, but true).

5. Riverside.fm
Riverside.fm makes remote, high-quality audio and video recording surprisingly accessible. For anyone creating podcasts, video interviews or social content, it’s like having a no-fuss studio at your fingertips.
  • Our favourite uses: We rely on Riverside for remote interviews, internal podcasts and social media content. We actually use it exclusively to record Artificial Breakdown, our newest ZGM podcast all about AI (take a listen for even more AI content).
  • Why we love it: It captures high-quality audio and video regardless of internet speed, which means fewer post-production headaches. And, because it’s all browser-based, guests can jump in without complicated setups, as long as they have a good mic. It also automatically creates a transcript, captions and it even pulls ready-to-post videos clips to use on socials.

Helping good organization make a greater mark on the world.
