A brand with purpose wins at the 2020 CHBA Edmonton Region Awards

With all the uncertainty in the world, it sometimes feels a little strange to celebrate success. However, recognizing moments of great collaboration is still really important. A recent uplifting moment for our team was The Canadian Home Builders’ Association - Edmonton Region annual Awards of Excellence in Housing event, which honoured some of the industry’s best. 

This award show is one of the most anticipated events for the home building and developing industry, and the evening soiree is always a can’t-miss, black-tie affair. But, like most of 2020’s events, the show could not go on as scheduled and the CHBA-ER shifted this year’s Awards of Excellence to be held virtually.

One of our client partners, Rohit Communities, did exceptionally well at this year’s event; placing as a finalist in numerous categories as well as taking home multiple awards - and we couldn’t be happier for their team. We’re proud to have been involved on some of the award-winning projects from the night, all of which were part of a re-brand that we worked closely with the Rohit team on developing. Together, we established a brand platform and visual expression for Rohit Communities, then dove into a brand communications and campaign strategy to reposition them in the market. 

The result? A brand both Rohit Communities and our ZGM team are extremely proud of.  

I’ve had the opportunity to work on some fantastic projects in my career, and I know that having an incredible team around me is what makes those projects extraordinary. Now, imagine working with a client who trusts you enough, and even pushes you, to let your team do their thing. That’s when the magic happens. So, congratulations to the Rohit Communities team – and cheers to many more stories of success in the future!  

Here’s a peek at a couple of the projects we worked on that won from the night: 


Best Integrated/Mixed Campaign: Rohit Brand

Our brand launch campaign focused on Rohit’s new positioning as “your designer homebuilder” and highlighted their globally inspired, magazine-worthy Designer Interiors through show-stopping custom photography and defined brand language. Through mixed media, multi-platform campaigns that included 

radio, out of home and digital ads, we helped tell the story of Rohit’s purposefully designed homes and the unique proposition of their Designer Interiors – and how they come together to make the homebuying process easy for first-time buyers while ensuring every home looks like it belongs in a magazine. 

Speaking of magazinewe even created a 30+ page Rohit magazine. From branding the magazine as Purposeful Design, to creating the flat plan, writing the stories, conducting interviews, and even providing some original photography for the Designer Interior-inspired food and cocktail recipes – this project was truly unique from start to finish. Purposeful Design was available in showhomes, given to new homeowners – and also available digitally (see it here) 


Best Video/Commercial: Rohit Brand Purpose

To help us tell the story of the new Rohit brand and purpose, we developed an animated video that explained who Rohit Communities is and what makes them different from other builders in the market. This video was shared internally with the Rohit team at the internal brand launch and it was also shared externally with consumers via social media and the rohitcommunities.ca  you can watch it here
